Open the front door, walk down the drive and across the river bridge ... and you're on the cross country ski trailsl!

Chalet Les Geckos is situated in the Vallee De La Manche between Morzine town centre and the Col De Coux - perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of Morzine and heading up into the mountains, past the Mines D'Or (Gold Mines) and onward towards the Col De Coux and beyond into Switzerland. This area provides a vast natural bowl which can be explored in winter as well as in summer. Hire your raquettes and head off up into the hills.

The cross country ski trails which pass Chalet Les Geckos provide the perfect start to your exploration of the higher mountains above Morzine and along the Swiss border. They also provide a peaceful alternative to the hussle and bustle of downhill skiing and snowboarding - no lifts, no fees, no queues, nobody around a lot of the time. You can have the mountains to yourself!

From the minute you leave the door of the chalet on your cross country skis (you can get a Chalet Les Geckos discount on hiring raquettes from Nicolas Sports shop in Morzine) you will be in the quiet natural environment of the high mountains. The views just get better and better as you head up towards the Col De Coux and the Swiss border. You can lose yourself here in the majesty of the mountains and remain blissfully unaware of the activities of the downhill skiers and boarders in Morzine just down the road from you.

There is a wonderful book entitled Ballades A Raquette (see below) which is packed with maps like this one including route and historical information on your raquette adventure. The book contains a number of sections on routes you can do in and around Chalet Les Geckos (literally from your door) and we've left a copy in the chalet for you. If you lke it as much as we do then you'll probably want to buy your own copy from one of the book shops in town or the local Champion supermarket.
