If you want to make the journey by plane then you should fly to Geneva followed by either catching a bus to Morzine or hiring a car from the airport and driving to Morzine. The three main airlines serving Geneva from the UK are Swiss (which has a good service from London City) or British Airways or Easyjet (usually the best value with good services from outside London). We find that the best value for car rental is always from the Swiss side of Geneva airport via Holiday Autos but there is an increasingly efficienct bus service (especially in winter with frequent daily direct busses between the airport and Morzine) which can be found at this public transport link.
It's worth considering whether driving is really going to take much longer than flying. Add-up check-in times, airport parking, security, delays and you're not far off the time it'd take to drive there. Using the French autoroutes it takes about eight to ten hours (even with children and stops) from Calais, Dieppe, Caen or any of the French Channel ports served by the channel tunnel or by ferry companies such as Brittany Ferries or Sea France or Condor Ferries - and it's easy to plan your route including selecting overnight hotels using the excellent Via Michelin route planner.
But why not do it in stress-free style by taking the train and making the journey part of the holiday? We've dedicated a whole page to getting to Chalet Les Geckos from the UK by train because we believe it's the one and only way to travel across Europe in style and comfort and is the perfect way to arrive in the Alps. It's even the most environmentally benign form of travel and with the new London St Pancras station providing the UK terminus, even our end of the journey is now stylish, easy and modern! Either as a day or overnight journey it is easy to go by train so why not explore your rail options by clicking on any of the photos on this page. You'll arrive in the Alps at either Cluses or Annecy or Geneva from where you have three options for getting up the mountain to Chalet Les Geckos..........
Either by a dedicated minibus transfer arranged through ourselves (see our Transfers page)
Or by using the local public transport (see our Cluses public transport link)
Or by hiring a car at Cluses or Annecy or Geneva train station (see our car hire link)
